The train whizzed by and Marixa didn’t bat an eye. She sighed and thought about her boyfriend Matthew. The sun shined down on her mysterious chocolate hair and radiant eyes sparkled. The trees seemed to murmur and the near by stream could be heard over the low whirr of crickets. Her hair blew in different directions from the train passing by came quickly and without warning startling her."Why do I come here?" She asked herself sulking picking the dead grass under her. Because you miss him…. A voice seemed to speak softly to her over the reverberation of the train. "Oh Matthew why did you have to-." The rest of her sentence was drowned out by the passing train. Tears ran down her face and she wiped them away swiftly. "Why do I come here if I only remember you?" Because you love him still. You need to move on just like these trains do. She lay back on the blanket she set by the tracks. The breeze blew and leaves fluttered above her. Let him go Marixa. Let him go. Drift away just like those leaves. Forgive and forget. Live life don’t regret. "I can never forget him. I will die just like he did." She stood up and walked into the middle of the tracks awaiting the next train. When she heard the horn blare she stood still. It got closer…and closer… the horn blared louder and the floor began to shake but she stood still nevertheless. "I’m coming Matthew." If you die he will never forgive you. Remember what he used to say? Live your life with or without me I’ll always be with you. She broke out of her trance and lunged off the tracks just before the train passed over the spot stood on. She landed just by the grave site she had dedicated to him When the sun began to set she kissed the stone and left the last train passing by for the day |
